A windfall of end-of-summer gourdness (see what we did there??) is here, just before autumn arrives.
What’s Fresh?
This week Squirrel is going nuts over gourds from Windy Acres Farm and Gardens, delicata, spaghetti, acorn, and honey nut squash from Clarion River Organics, and green and purple cabbage from Live and Learn Farms.
New Producer Spotlight: Ohio City Pasta
It’s finally here! Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, we’ve wanted Ohio City Pasta on our shelves for years but just now found a way to get it in our freezer. Since 1990, owner Gary Thomas has been committed to creating fresh, handcrafted pasta with ingredients that are sourced as locally as possible. Made without preservatives or fillers, expect wholesome, flavorful pasta goodness.
Both the potato and spinach gnocchi is 100% vegan.
New Producer Spotlight: Peaceful Fruits
Making flavorful and healthy fruit snacks and helping others find their peace is the name of the game for Peaceful Fruits. These fruit leathers and fruit-based snacks are gluten-free, gmo-free, and made with fruit sourced from environmentally-ethical farms. Located just outside of Akron in Barberton, OH, Peaceful Fruits is committed to serving their community with their initiative to employ people with developmental disabilities that are often overlooked for full-wage jobs. They also created their Peaceful Fruits Foundation focused on providing resources for children’s mental health issues. Truly a feel-good snack, inside and out!
