Packing your picnic basket?
We have some ideas for a spring spread.
What’s Fresh?
This week Squirrel is going nuts over cut flowers and luffa gourds from Windy Acres Farm and Gardens, Orange Sunrise milk from Pot O Gold, new BBQ sauce from Uncle Jammy’s and new Vodka sauce from Alla Famiglia, both from Pittsburgh, PA. Do you have a favorite product made or grown within 150 miles of Edinboro? If you do, and you want to see it in the Market, share the details and we’ll follow up. 🙂
Recipe Corner: spring salads & sammies!
The gorgeous spring weather from the past week has made us eager to get outside and enjoy ourselves. What better way to enjoy the sunshine than while eating a fresh, locally-made lunch?
We’ve gathered 5 of our favorite seasonally-inspired spring salads and a few creative sandwiches to help you create the spring picnic spread of your dreams. Although the Market will not have every ingredient necessary for the recipes, you can always substitute your choice of spring vegetables, ‘forageables’, or dressings for a salad that is uniquely yours! In the picture below, we gathered a sampler of our finest salad fixings so that you know what to look for when you come in.
or a classic egg n cheese breakfast sandwich, which was submitted to us by our very creative(!) reader, Lydia!
Thanks again to Lydia for sharing her very yummy breakfast sandwich, made with ‘Boro Sweet Spot Bread, Middlefield Co-op cheese, Hogs & Honey eggs and Happy Farm Microgreens carrot sprouts. We costed out these ingredients and each sandwich comes out to around $3.75 depending on how much of each ingredient is used! Be sure to send us your recipes and drool-worthy dinner snapshots to be featured in a future newsletter.
