This week Squirrel is going nuts with gratitude thinking about all we’ve accomplished this year!
We first want to offer our most heartfelt thank you to our 80+ producers. Edinboro Market is here because of of their hard work and passion for what they grow and produce whether it’s greens, grass fed meats, or alpaca knitwear. Since opening in December of 2017, we have sold $1.35 million in products made or grown within 150 miles of Edinboro. Our 75/25 split with producers means $1,012,500 of that was returned to our local economy through producer payouts. You may have met many of these producers at our Meet and Greets. We plan to host more of these in the coming year.
The next thank you is for our customers! We served 15,200 people in 2023. Connecting with “regulars” and newcomers alike is one of the big reasons we do what we do. Thank you so much for shopping at Edinboro Market, and for all of your support and excitement as we move towards our 2024 expansion. Your kind words, thoughts, and contributions reassure us that our community is as just as excited as we are to create a thriving local food + artisan economy in northwest PA!
It is pretty amazing that all of this has happened out of a 900 sq. ft space in 36 hours of operation per week. Our new space at 211 Mill Street in Edinboro will offer 2x the amount of retail space, plus a local foods cafe/classroom space and a rentable shared-use kitchen. Lots of fun things to look forward to in 2024!
And now, a quick recap of all the fun things we did this year…
Thank you to those who joined us for our Find NWPA Food event, which occurred in conjunction with the Meadville Market House and Core Goods in Oil City.
It was a great day of live music, chalk art, a chance to meet local farmers, and sample some yummy locally grown/made food!
Thank you to Goodell Gardens for having us at the Homegrown Harvest Festival and providing an ideal location for our 2023 Farm to Table Dinner.
We have to thank our fabulous FTTD chefs Kristen Weeks, Micah Goring and their prep team, for a meal that we couldn’t stop thinking about for weeks.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored the dinner, especially 814 Outdoor Sports for partnering with us on the E-Bike raffle. Music by Toppish made the event special as did each and every one of those who attended.
What a year! And there’s much to look forward to in 2024, so stay tuned!!
Reminder: Closed for vacation, Dec. 31st-Jan. 9th!
Please note: Saturday Dec. 30th, we have shortened our hours to 8am-2pm. The Market will be closed between December 31st and January 9th.
We will reopen on Wednesday January 10th, 2024!
Wishing you all a healthy, happy, peaceful New Year.
With affection and gratitude,
Marti, Curtis, Aaron, Brenna, Gloria, Livia and Squirrel
Our goal is to provide access to fresh, locally grown food while being an entrepreneurial marketplace for food producers; and an understanding of the importance of both.
