We have lots of different doggie treats for your particular pup. If you have a wild child, let them gnaw on a Copley’s chicken foot or some Blackberry Meadows dehydrated pork organs. If your dog has more posh preferences, we have three flavors of Fetch! Dog Treats infused with veggies and animal protein for a well-rounded, crunchy biscuit.
We are excited to welcome back Katie Klaas of 5+4 Boutique as one of our full-time producers! You may remember seeing her charming crochet art during November when she was a Market Monthly Partner. Stop in to pick up a charming dinosaur pal or a people-proof crochet plant, all coming from nearby Townville, PA.
Jewels Under the Kilt is coming from just the other side of Lake Erie: 127 miles away in Fergus, Ontario-Canada. After moving to the country and planting over 150 fruit and nut trees in 2013, Lis Burrows came to find that she had quite a knack for roasting nuts with her family’s home-tapped maple syrup. Now she is the founder, president, and chief roaster of Jewels Under the Kilt, which strives to make wholesome snacks with ingredients from local suppliers, free of preservatives.
This week, we are recommendingFarm (and Other F Words): The Rise and Fall of the Small Family Farmby Sarah K Mock. This eye-opening read examines the myths and realities of agriculture in the United States. Mock thoughtfully unpacks the misconceptions around farming, our cultural beliefs about farmers, and the role the government plays in the current agricultural system. Mock also addresses the complex barriers that stand between “good” farmers and economic stability and success. From historical roots in racial and economic disparity, to modern day systemic inequality, this book sheds light on the problems facing farmers today – and begins the conversation on how we can become more thoughtful, local consumers and supporters of farms. At the heart of her work is an acknowledgment of the power of community, the lessons we can learn from one another, and the long-term success we can create through collaboration. Spoiler Alert: Sarah Mock will join us at our Open House celebration at
our new location! Stay tuned for details!!
Meet & Greet Feb. 18 with Clarion Farms!
John-Scott of Clarion Farms (one of our ground beef producers) will be at Edinboro Market on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 12-2 pm. He’ll be happy to answer any questions about his beef and will have a variety of meat cuts available for purchase.
Our goal is to provide access to fresh, locally grown food while being an entrepreneurial marketplace for food producers; and an understanding of the importance of both.
