Seedling sales and local foods? Saturday does sound like a “Perfect Day” to us!
This week, the Squirrel Squad is going nuts over lots of early-bird herbs from Live & Learn farms, including thyme, oregano, parsley, savory, and chives as well as the first Rick Walker hydroponic cucumbers and Windy Acres flower arrangements of the season! Squirrel and the Squad also feel that there’s some new must-haves, including new 43 Jewelry Co. pieces and some Byler’s products that were crowd-favorites from our Meet & Greet (find out more in our “Thank You” note below.)
Thank you to Bob & Dona of Byler’s Relish House for coming by on Saturday, May 11th for a sampling and Meet & Greet. We and our customers had lots of fun trying Byler’s products and learning more about their work.
They also brought a gift basket which they raffled off at the end of the day!
Perfect Day on the East Side: May 25
This week we are spotlighting a community event in Erie hosted by some friends of Edinboro Market: Kristen Weeks of Grow and Glow Urban Collective and Stephanie Ciner of Wild Field Urban Farm. Stephanie C. is also half of the “Steph” team responsible for raising the seedlings we have available for sale at the Market this weekend, along with Stephanie Thauer of Conscious Food Project and Raintree Farm. Kristen, an urban farmer and chef, was one of our 2023 Farm-to-Table Dinner chefs.
The first Perfect Day event happened by chance in 2023. A conversation between Jessica Schultz (Herb and Honey Bakery), Connie Walker (The MushRoom), Kristen Weeks, and Stephanie Ciner laid out what a ‘Perfect Day’ would look like in their east Erie community. It would include purchasing a tasty pastry and some garden plants for their home garden, along with the opportunity to connect with others curious and/or passionate about healthy, local food.
On the spur of the moment, they put together a flyer and shared it widely. Though the weather that day was less than ideal, (freezing rain!!), hundreds of people participated.
The second annual Perfect Day is Saturday May 25. See the flyer below for more info on that as well as Wild Field Urban Farm’s seedling sale.
Stop by and say hello!

Sorry, we’re not able to offer preorders or hold plants.
Our goal is to provide access to fresh, locally grown food while being an entrepreneurial marketplace for food producers; and an understanding of the importance of both.
